We’re Rochelle and Philly,
the founders of R&P Insurance and the team behind Wāhine Wanawana – Ara ki Angitu.
This kaupapa was created to help wāhine feel more confident, capable, and supported when it comes to money. We know how hard it can be to ask for financial advice, especially when the industry doesn’t always feel built for us. So we decided to build something different.

Wāhine Wanawana is a registered charity focused on financial education, community connection, and real-life tools to support women on their journey to financial independence, no matter where they’re starting from.
We bring our lived experience as Māori wāhine, mothers, business owners, and advisers. Alongside a strong network of guest speakers to create safe we strive to create spaces where women can learn, ask questions, and take steps toward a more secure future.
Wāhine Wanawana is about more than finances. It’s about building a future where women are heard, prepared, and backed by community.

The overarching goal of this kaupapa is to promote financial literacy and independence among women.
Too often, women tell us they’ve felt overlooked, judged, or just plain confused when trying to get financial advice. We’re here to change that through free events, honest kōrero, and practical education that makes sense for real life.
We run speaking events and workshop series focused on financial literacy, goal setting, career growth, investing, and more — all delivered in a way that’s culturally grounded, easy to follow, and genuinely useful.

Our long-term vision is to take this kaupapa across Aotearoa, building a nationwide movement and offering scholarship pathways into the financial services industry for wāhine who want to step into this space themselves.
We’re always open to kōrero around sponsorship and support. To learn more or get involved, reach out to Rochelle Carly at rochelle@randpinsurance.co.nz
We’re currently fundraising for our 2026 events, planned across both Pōneke – Wellington and Ōtautahi Christchurch.
Upcoming Fundraising Events:
Wāhine Wanawana Charity Golf Day 2025
Christchurch: October 18th
Wellington: November 27th
Our ladies' charity golf day is back for 2025 — and this time, we’re teeing off in both Ōtautahi and Pōneke.
Last year we hosted in Christchurch, and the gals showed up and made it a day to remember. Most had never picked up a club before, and still walked away laughing, connecting, and loving every minute.
This day isn’t about scorecards, it’s about showing up, having fun, and backing a cause that backs wāhine. All levels are welcome. If you can swing
(or just want to give it a go), you’re in.
If you'd like to sponsor a hole or donate a prize, we’d love to hear from you. It’s a great way to support the mahi and be part of something that leaves
a real impact.
Round up your mates and we’ll bring the energy.

What We’ve Made Happen:
Keynote Speaking Event
Our First Wāhine Wanawana Event: Ōtautahi
We kicked things off in Christchurch with our first-ever Wāhine Wanawana – and wow, what a day.
A room full of wāhine showed up for honest kōrero about money, mindset, and building a life that feels good – supported, steady, and true to you.
The lineup? Unreal. Sarah Brown, Courtney Manu, Te Kahukura Boynton, Tegan Yorwarth, and us – Rochelle & Philly – all sharing the stuff that really matters. No pressure. Just straight-talking advice, real-life stories, and big energy.

What did the wāhine say? They felt seen. Understood. Like they weren’t the only ones figuring it out.
For some, it was the first time money had ever been talked about in a way that felt culturally grounded and actually relatable. For others, it was the clarity and nudge they needed to take that next step.
And for all of us? It was a reminder that this kaupapa is powerful, and we’re just getting started.
Workshop Event
Off the back of our keynote event, we ran our first two-part Financial Foundations workshop series in Christchurch, and the vibe was everything.
Across two evenings, we covered the essentials: goal setting, budgeting, career growth, investing, money personalities, employment rights, running a business, and more. Real-life stuff that too many wāhine are expected to figure out alone.
What made it special? The space, safe, supportive, and packed with wāhine ready to learn, share, and grow together. These workshops are completely free because we believe this kind of knowledge should be accessible to every woman, no matter where she is.
Part 3 is coming later this year, and this is just the beginning. Growth, prosperity, connection, it starts with community. Wāhine know how to show up for each other. That’s where the magic is.
